I've tried so many things to make it work, but I'm lost. This is baffling me since I have it based on the exact variable that the game itself uses. But instead it just offers the option to try to pick the lock again. If it worked it should say something like 'go free' once you've used the key to free a slave. The first is that the lockpick topic repeats even after freeing the slave. So, what's the problem? Well, I have two, but one of them I'm almost certain is related to a mod because I get the same result by trying the same thing with the console in game. I used it to free the Arvel plantation slaves. But I managed that.Īnd it works! It works beautifully. Fitting all this into dialogue scripting boxes, what with their character limits and all, was all sorts of fun. (Security skill of 100 and/or skeleton key results in no breakages.) Oh, and there are multiple responses on succeeding, too, just because. It's scripted and it has this nice little thing going on where you can fail and your pick can break, depending on the sort of pick you have equipped and your skill, the better the pick/your skill, the less chance of breaking. Essentially you get a new topic option, which is 'lockpick,' and that allows you to attempt to lockpick those bracers open. The solution is my 'Free All Slaves!' mod which I've been developing in MWEdit.

So I set about creating my own solution to this problem. It also bugged me that despite me being a master of lockpicking and all, I'd never be able to pick a bracer's lock (even if they do have very complex locks, with maxed out security you'd think my character would be able to figure 'em out!). I know there are workarounds, but they're particularly ugly ones, and I wanted something that fit into the game. one thing I've noticed in Morrowind that's proved to be irritating is that some plantations and locations don't have keys. (Which is generally-sort-of where the problem is. This seemed like the best place to poke about scripting-related things. Blargh, sorry to have turned up out of nowhere with a help request, but I'm developing a mod in MWEdit and it's pretty much 99% functional now, but I've just hit a stumbling block and I cannot proceed, no matter what I try.
